Motorsport was already a world of its own in the 1960s, in which engineers, designers and drivers always try to outdo themselves with their new achievements. Carroll Shelby (Matt Damon) is an American sports car manufacturer at the time, whose visions few can match. Ken Miles (Christian Bale) comes from Great Britain and is a revelation with his talent as a racing driver.
Together the two men want to do the impossible: They want to design a racing car that is superior to the competitor and market leader Ferrari. At the 24-hour race at Le Mans in 1966, they could demonstrate this exceptional vehicle not only to France, but to the whole world.
